Reservations are always recommended and required on weekends. We have traditional aluminum canoes, and "Old Town Canoes" which are a blue/green fiberglass type material. They are very comfortable, quiet on the river, and go over rocks much easier than the aluminum canoes. Most of our trips begin up-river and end at River View Landing which is in the center of our campground. Canoe enthusiasts are shuttled to the appropriate put in point by van or bus. To avoid disappointment, reservations should be made as far in advance as possible. We suggest that you reserve an early morning trip to avoid congestion on the river. Sunday through Friday is your best choice if you are looking for a peaceful journey down the river, especially if you have small children. Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day are very, very busy on the Rifle River. All canoeists are provided with their choice of floatation devices. River View offers standard life-vests, life-jackets or cushions. Everyone is required to have one of these devices with them while canoeing on the Rifle River. Children 12 yrs. and under must wear a life preserver at all times! All of River View Campground's canoes and equipment are inspected annually by the Arenac County Marine Patrol and registered by the State of Michigan. Click here for Canoeing Rates & Prices
